How to Create UEFI Bootable Windows USB Drive

In this article i will show you how to create a UEFI bootable USB flash drive which can be used to install Microsoft windows 10, windows 8.1, Windows 8, or windows 7 operating systems on UEFI computers using a free program Rufus. It’s a utility which helps to you for format and create bootable USB flash drives, such as USB pen drives, memory sticks, etc. Rufus is reliable and offers more features compared to other tools available in the market.



Here’s what you need:
  • USB flash drive (4 GB or Higher)
  • Windows 10 / 8.1 / 8 / 7 ISO file
  • Rufus – A free software Utility

How to a Make UEFI Bootable Windows USB Flash Drive

Follow the instructions which we given below to prepare a uefi bootable usb
1. Download the latest version of Rufus from the link below
2. Run Rufus utility, Its portable and hence doesn’t require an installation.
3. Connect your USB flash drive if you have not already.
4. Set Rufus with the settings below :
  • Device: select your USB flash drive.
  • Partition scheme and target system type:  select “GPT partition scheme for UEFI computer
  • File system : Select file system as FAT32.
  • Cluster size : select “Default
  • Enter a volume label : Enter name for the USB or leave the default name.
  • Under Format Options, Check “Quick format“.
  • Check “ create a bootable disk using “. Set it to ISO image and click the CD/DVD drive icon to select the ISO file you want to copy onto the USB drive.
5. Finally, Click on the Start button and then click on OK to confirm the warning. Rufus will now start creating the bootable UEFI USB flash drive.
6. Once the process completes, you will see “Done” message. Close Rufus Window.
You are now ready to install Windows 10, Windows 8.1, Windows 8 or Windows 7 using UEFI with your bootable UEFI USB flash drive.
